Andrea,

I like how your video clearly states what we're trying to do in terms of building the best school in the universe through our efforts. What you've done really stands out to me. The "eyes up philosophy" really does work for me too. Except I never thought much of it and just did it. For example, I would start the class only when I have everyone's eyes; and I always say good morning or good afternoon. This really helps start the class on a positive note.

I also like how you've made alternative solutions than to removing students from the classroom. I remember my elementary teacher use to put us in a cubicle AKA "Australia," short for "The Australian Prison," and even though it was in the classroom, I felt more ashamed and horrified than ever to be "isolated."

For your choice words pillar, I've never thought about relating it to how others speak about students. I get really uncomfortable around those who do talk negatively about students and I think it's great that you've taken that stand to show your colleagues that you'd rather be part of a positive, and more constructive, conversation.

I'm sure that with your efforts and influence on the other staff and students of your school, you won't be far away from establishing the "best school in the universe." Excellent work you've accomplish, it has been inspirational.

Another outstanding post by my collegial partner! This is a great compliation of how you are implementing your goals. Nice PowToon, I know they can be a bit cumbersome. Well done!!

Andrea,

I am really curious about your ambassador program. At SPA, we do not do a good enough job of helping new students join our community. I really like this idea!

Also, I am happy to hear that you seem to be really focusing on body language and how you speak to the students. You are already friendly and smily and it sounds like you are pushing yourself to come across as an even more supportive adult. Good job modeling a growth mindset.

Now I wish I had done a PowToons presentation. :)
I like the music and auto-animation. I agree about what you said regarding: looking into the eyes of student. I too have adopted that as a goal of mine this year, and you can really connect by just looking at students with concern, care, and truth. I used to think that I was invading their personal space by doing this, but now I wish I had done it earlier. Great presentation!
